A Small Hotel Gym

The hotel gym is so tiny. It's like a small service apartment's penthouse. But it would do. It's super clean and offers bottles of water and towels.

There's a number of treadmills, a full rack of dumbbells, a TechnoGym bench with resistance ropes, and a rower. There's the loft space for yoga or mat pilates. But no kettlebells, no barbells and no squat rack. Never mind, I can work with these.

For the first few days of the trip, I still turned up at the gym daily. The rains meant that I can't get an outdoor run in. Anyway I'm so lazy that running outdoors is a big effort. Hahahaha. A tiny gym can't be my excuse not to work out. I don't work out long. 30 - 40 minutes are all that's required. I didn't bother to wear a tracker. I don't usually do. It's not rocket science and I'm not an athlete. Just do 3 sets of 10 reps each or something on the dumbbells for strength. Used the rower for cardio, and finished off with Pilates work on the floor for core. Done.

It's a huge effort trying to control my intake of carbs in the form of rice. That's my biggest weakness. I can't resist all these gorgeous short-grained steamed rice. It's not even about weight loss. It's about not gaining weight or fats from all the starch ingested. I'd also like to keep my stamina, muscles and strength. At least the coach won't raise his eyebrows too much next week when I tell him I can't do 10kg-a-side for dumbbell chest presses, and need to lower it to 8kg.
