This isn't exactly toshikoshi soba (年越しそば), but I'll just call it that anyway. It was the first day of work for us. Even opening our MacBooks to reply emails and sort out some workflow decks counted. J and I toddled specially over to Paaru for this bowl to be ingested together over lunch.
J made a reservation for us for lunch. I thought it would usually be a walk-in sort of thing, but this time they opened it up for bookings. Okay lorrrr. Then at least we don't have to queue when we get here. As limited as the lunch menu is, it works for us and a few other people who don't need a wider range of food.
For today's soba, there were options for the bowl to come with either pork or mushroom, or wagyu beef. We opted for pork. This is a special bowl of soba that we had on the first 'work' day of 2025. If work's also gonna be shitty at points, then may it be some good shit coming our way.
I had great coffee here. Opted for a hot filter. I often get iced filter or batch brews cold because I'd normally sit outdoors in the heat. Today, I'm indoors in comfortable air-conditioning. I can do a warm cup of coffee.
