The friends had ordered vegan biryani and a separate box of ayam merah from Z at Global Mat Soul Kitchen. They generously picked them up and sent a portion to me. Yayyyy! That biryani fed us well on a busy weekend when neither the man or I had time to get much food in between events and such.
The biryani was so good that I had a craving for more biryani the days after. I'm particularly picky about biryani. It has to be the dum biryani sort. There are so many types. Also, it's flavored rice right? A mandi would always be my choice — I love its smokiness.
Stopped by the convenient Abu Mubarak Mandi Rice on North Bridge Road. The man felt like having the rice as kabsa today. The tomatoes would go better with his preference of mutton. He also ordered a hummus, which was excellent. We prefer Middle Eastern hummus over the Greek or Mediterranean types. It was mandi for me. I opted for chicken since I just wanted the skin, and I could pass the meat to the man.
Of course we couldn't finish the rice. We packed the rest home; why waste good carbs. Needed proteins with it so we ordered extra meats to-go. The man would have a small bit for breakfast and the rest fed us for lunch the next day!
