Good Old Samy's Curry

I'm so pleased that Samy's Curry at Dempsey welcomes Choya at our table. I don't need special treatment for her. I just want her to be allowed to dine alongside us, chilling out on the floor in a quiet corner. We've been popping by and they never minded Choya at their outdoor tables since the rules relaxed in January 2025.

When we take Choya along, we do the off-peak timings. We stop by either at 11.10am for brunch or 2.15pm for a late lunch. Forget dinner. With all its curries and carbs, we can't do Samy's at dinner and hope to digest our food by bedtime. Heh.

It stormed like crazy in the pre-dawn hours. When it finally stopped, it was time for a walk with Choya. After that, we went to Samy's. When it comes to brunch, I'm not always a yoghurt/granola and never a sourdough person. At this hour of 11.15am, I'll do curry.

The standards of Samy's food have fluctuated. But it's been pretty all right. I say that only because I eat there regularly and have done so since my childhood. I don't know its incarnation on Tank Road and Pearl's Hill Center. I wasn't born yet! Hahahaha. But the elderly folks in the family have been staunch diners. I have eaten at this restaurant from its current address since it moved here in 1975. Samy's still serves the best version of Singapore-style fish head curry that I quite like.
