In Vietnam, of course I want to eat nothing else but Vietnamese food, or French-inspired interpretations, what they term as 'Indochine cuisine'. There're the fancy restaurants and the usual eateries. Plenty of choices.
However, I want something less fancy, like a bowl of pho. A bowl of pho in Ho Chi Minh City generally costs VND$5,000 (~S$0.60). At a chain of Pho 24 which obviously caters to tourists, a bowl costs VND$24,000 (~S$3) and taste exactly like the crappy ones in Singapore. *faint* Just get out to the street stalls. They serve way better pho. Mmm. I found all happiness out there by the streets.

oooh, i love viet food!!! and this looks sooo good!!!
i really have to get used to all these varieties of asian food. to me, it looks so odd..but some turn out to taste so divine!
looking at HCMC, i never figured that it's got so many nooks and crannies. you practically know them all!! i suppose you will. you've been there like 10thousand times.
remind me why i love asia.
i've tried that chain. it kinda sucks.i rather eat at the restaurants which look upmarket, but not that expensive.
did you try the French food? it's fantastic!
french colony saigon is. and the french food is still fabulous. very reasonably priced too. it's so tough to find cheap french food.
I can't wait to go Vietnam! But hor...based on what you write, I am wondering if I would like the food there! Coz I'm quite happy with the viet food here :p Sydney has really good Viet food too methinks.
viet food is really quite good.but i have to agree those in singapore sucks.big time.
i think the shopping in bangkok is still much better.vietnam doesn't really have anything that i want.except for all those embroidered silk stuff which aint exactly cheap. cheaper than Lim's at Holland V anyway.
which is your 2nd home? =p
hearing of all your travel tales makes me wanna go travel too.
2nd home-bangkok. imp lived there solid for a year and then kept going back ever so frequently after.now still.
if you dig french food, vietnam's french food's really quite authentic. their pork medallions are done so so beautifully. soft, tender, flavorful.
vietnam's still less crowded compared to bangkok. shopping for furniture in vietnam is a pleasure. but not for clothes though. that's quite sucky.
