Cooking Classes At Shermay's Part 2

The man went off for his second demo class at Shermay's. The guest chef was Jimmy Chok who demonstrated the art of roasting meats.

While it was rather amazing to watch the guest chef debone a whole salmon, strip a whole beef striploin and fiddle with a 2.3kg chicken, the man concluded that he wasn't going to be able to replicate these at home. The biggest obstacle was obviously the size of our oven. The man was not too impressed with the striploin. It tasted rather beefy to him. He preferred beef in stew or pan-fried. I'm guessing that he will stick to buying smaller beef cuts from the supermarket.

The man's takeaway from this class was the baked salmon fillet with lemon and fennel. He also didn't mind the vegetable stew and roast chicken with fresh herb and truffles. The man didn't mind it salmon baked this way. He figured that it would be more feasible to buy salmon fillets and put them into mini aluminium foil to bake in the oven. Of course he also went away with new
kitchen toys from the retail shop.

Dinner for the evening was simple. Ready-to-cook pasta, sauces and blackforest cake from
Da Paolo's deli. Very upsetting. Something in there gave us the runs the next day. Probably the raw eggs in the carbonara sauce. No fun. No matter. The man was very pre-occupied with the next set of dinner menu to experiment for the next month. He would be looking around for quality importers of fresh seafood. Plaice is what he wants. FaerieFolk, I hope you like fish. Different kinds of fish.

It's so adorable to have a kind of "role reversal" in your case - the man attends classes and cooks, while you TUCK IN! Hahaha!!!

Oh yes, I must say the kitchen tools from Cuisipro is really droolsome!!!! I love their measuring spoons and cups cos they are oval, elongated - so you can reach into jars with smaller openings. Ingenious! :D

jemej: you will be able to educate me on the practicality of the kitchen toys! for me, i only know how to appreciate its aesthetic value. and if it's easy to wash!

Haha, I'm a sucker for aesthetics too, so not much help!!! those silicone ware are really pretty, they come in all kinds of colours, making the kitchen look very bright and cheery!

jemej: agreed! even i, the non-cook got really tempted by all the toys!
