Spooky II

We were driving out of Emerald Hill Road.

The friend glanced to his right, did a double-take and went "WTF?!!!"

We all turned to see what shocked him. What we saw made our jaws fall right to the car mats.

Lit by the street lamps, ambling down the lonely slope was this solitary old lady with her white hair all bunned up and dressed in a scarlet satin (might be silk) traditional cheongsam.

She was so incongruent with the surroundings.

As the car passed her side, we just had to peek at her face. It was slapped thick with pasty make-up and matching crimson lipstick.

From all the races of Singapore in the car, there was a collective shriek of "Arrrrggggh! WTF???!!!! Does she have a shadow??!!!"

Of all nights, the old lady had to dress like that and in red, on the last night of the
Hungry Ghost Festival??!!!

She gave us heart palpitations for a good 5 minutes man.

Could it be an actor just done for the night - from those chinese opera performances taking place over the Ghost month? Yes, its unlikely that any sane person would walk around bedecked in performance costume but there's a possibility?
