The First Day of 2008

We hopped over to the dessert angel's place for lunch.

She fed us very well indeed.

Some of the guests brought along food too. I couldn't stop eating the roasted potatos and digging around for cloves of garlic. I had scoops of pumpkin dhaal over vegetable pulao. I had a chunk sweet pickled cabbage. Then I ate 5 tiny chicken wings. ;P I did try to ignore the rest of the salad, salmon, ham, roast chicken and turkey.

Of course the desset angel woke up at 9am and baked 2 desserts. An Italian fruit cake and an apple cranberry pie! Very yummilicious.

The usually wary and a little-snooty dog was all affectionate today. I wondered why! The dog was greedy. And I was too soft-hearted. I fed it way too much chicken. The poor thing decided to puke it all up later. Oops.

I had embarrassing moments recorded on her new powerful and compact Flip videocam. So terrible. *face palm*

Then the conversation focused on a friend's thesis. We were on the nature of consciousness and the 'I'. It was fairly absorbing and pretty much formed the basis of her literature, religion and philosophy dissertation.

I don't think I can stomach any more food for today.

Maybe the dog got it right. The idea of dinner makes me nauseous.

Loved the picture of the fruit cake. It's so hard to lay my fingers on a delicious one nowadays. Sigh...it reminds me that I have not whipped up my favourite dessert for a long time already. I am pretty sure that mine only pales in comparison to the dessert angel (the term comes only if the person lives up the reputation). If there's a chance, must seek dessert angel for advice to improve on my dessert. :P

Happy New Year me dear!! I have been feasting so much since Xmas that I am having trouble in reducing my food portion. And I have not stepped into the pool or the gym in my new home's compound yet! No excuse at all! I hope I can/ will start tomorrow.

You mean you fed yourselves well :)

iceaster - recipe is simple actually though it requires a fair amount of ingredients. I got it from Nigella Lawson and it's easy peasy really :) Am not a big fan of fruit cake but this one isn't very fruit cakey.
