Flying on a queasy stomach was no fun. I felt completely ill until I stepped into Macau's crisp night air and the waiting car drove us off to the hotel. Only then did I feel much better.
Although we were in the land of dumpling soup noodles and crab porridge, we weren't up to strolling all the way downhill to look for food. We decided to eat at the hotel's pretty little restaurant. I wasn't able to eat much at dinner. The piping hot lobster bisque was all that I had to settle the stomach. As greedy as I was, I didn't dare to part-take in the other dishes the colleagues ordered.
We stayed at the Pousada de Mong-Há. It's such a quaint little 3-storey Portuguese inn with 20 rooms. The only problem- there are no lifts!!! It's quite a bitch lugging heavy suitcases up and down the stairs. Service is impeccable, I tell you. I really can't complain. The room is charming and cosy. Very comfortable to live in for the week. The room's internet connection is steady and the speed is excellent. The colleague is thrilled to bits. She is merrily WOWing away upstairs.
Yes yes. This trip, I'm supposed to pick up basic Portuguese. Recognizing words ain't enough. I've to do phrases. Sigh. Unfortunately, the pronounciation isn't quite the way it's spelt. So I've to go bug the Macau counterparts to teach me short phrases. Then I'm going to practise on you, Q. Don't laugh okay.

looks like a very stylish boutique hotel. best to stay in this sort than the casinos. then you really get a piece of history.
Ahhh.. you are back in Macau.. :) have a good trip.. :)
I always think that the greatest crime the Portuguese inflicted on the Macau Chinese was making them study a language of such low economic importance in this region.
