We wanted a light chilled summer soup. The man tried out Jamie Oliver's tomato consommé. He got the hang of blending the ingredients and straining it. But we thought that the garlic and especially the vodka could be a lot less. Well, we definitely needed better quality tomatoes than what were available in the general supermarkets.
It was a farewell dinner, really. There was nothing of substance we could get for dear D. So the man cooked dinner from his heart. For the moussaka, he insisted on having organic ingredients of Du Puy lentils and lovely juicy aubergines. He made her favorite dhaal with basmati.
As usual, the dear friend seized the opportunity to up our sugar intake. She baked and brought cinnamon bread and a really rich malteser cake garnished with the cutest animal sprinkles and malties. Hee heee. I didn't eat much of the bread. I was trying to save it up!! I'm going to have gourmet bread for breakfast this weekend.

guess sometimes a sincere home-cooked meal is more heart-warming than gift, especially with all the time spend and effort in. =p
btw, have a nice weekend! =p
Awwww :) Thanks for dinner guys! How about just saving that dhaal up for when I come back in a few?
please don't kill me, but at first glance i thought that soup dish was a hat!
and i'm sure the dhaal would not be the same without your dutiful stirring.
No doubt about it - we all agreed the stirring made all the difference.
i was wondering what on earth that round thing was until I saw kikare's comment! I too thought it was some humongo hat!
From the heart is good.. :)
