The Stories

We didn't manage to catch The Pillowman last round nor at the botched London trip the year before.

But the friends did. They compared the 3 productions they watched- in 2005 at
Westend, Broadway and in 2006 by The Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT).

We love black comedies. The friends insist that we must catch this play sometime, somewhere.

So we were thrilled that SRT brought the play back for a second run from 26 March - 6 April 2008. We grabbed our tickets.

The 3 hours passed quickly. We were enthralled.

SRT's Asian production of
Martin McDonagh's critically acclaimed play was brilliant. The measured acting brought out the cleverly meshed dark comedy and storyline twists. The stories within a story were absolutely riveting.

We didn't want to watch it in the evenings after a draining day of work. We chose a matinée on a Saturday so that we could be fresh and attentive.

It was a very good afternoon of storytelling.
