Sushi Dokoro Maeshima

[The restaurant closed in March 2011.]

This trip, we chose to stay in Petaling Jaya. Quite far away to get to downtown KL.

I still dragged the man through the bumper-to-bumper KL evening traffic to Maeshima Sushi Restaurant at Federal Hotel. It was a chauffeured ride anyway. So the one hour trip downtown was fairly pleasant.

I really really wanted to try the food there. The recommendation came from very good authority where Japanese food is concerned. It was blind faith. Totally.

Maeshima Sushi Restaurant surprised me. It was good.  Of course we had our meal omakase. It was priced at MYR230++ per pax. Very decent, by Singapore standards.

Over two hours, we completely knocked ourselves into a food coma. How brilliant. We ate a ton of sushi. We had abalone sashimi too. Garnished with its emerald green liver. Lovely. Took a small serving of the juicy Kobe beef. The sake went handsomely with all the food. But the grilled ayu was disappointing. It wasn't evenly grilled. Somebody didn't gut it properly and it was bitter at some parts.

S, you couldn't have given me a better recommendation. I'll see if I want to try Benkay at Nikko Hotel.
