Go Away

I didn't ask to be appointed to this work committee. Obviously I didn't get to exercise any sort of democratic vote about it. Protested and already said very loud that I wouldn't be able to afford the time. I was greatly discouraged to 'resign'. Plus I didn't put in a formal protest to the proper channels that appointed me. So it was left as that. I became a member of the working committee.

I was so flooded with other core work-KPI nitty gritty details that I missed out an email from the committee head instructing me to help round up separate portions and draft the paper for submission even though I was in KL. Siao.

Obviously I couldn't do a beep about it lah. I was out all day running around KL. I spent nights prepping (and fighting off cockroaches) for the next week's happenings in Singapore. Do they really think I want to spend another hour of my personal time on what I view as not-particularly-important committee participation? It's not even part of my KPI. I'm not so on okay. While I still have passion for what I do, I've lost alot of enthusiasm for non-core KPI related stuff.

Screw brownie points. Ridiculous. So I just sent out an email apologizing for the oversight and diplomatically asked to be 'removed' from this committee. Maybe they prefer the word 'removed' and will grant my application. Since they don't understand the concept of "I don't want to", they're welcome to label me 'incompetent' and freeze my career path too.

SIAO indeed! Just like when I was asked to lead a committee for the sake of 'exposure'. I didn't believe in the thrust of the whole project so I said 'no'. But like you, 'no' was not accepted as an answer! Hope 'removed' would be the word to change things for you!

eh. you'll have to write a paper to submit as reasons for 'removal'. dig out that schedule in malaysia. u might actually have to justify WHY u don't have time to do it.

dun bluff!! this is such an imp thing! u purposely overlooked that email right??!!!

frankly hor, who'd send email, receiving no response, not remind till a day before supposed deadline and still expect u to do this when u've declared that u can't attend meetings and u'll be out of town? siao is the word.

hahaha... I was SOoo happy when I found out I was deemed to not have a high CEP and therefore don't have to be in any of these committees that the scholars can't say no to. :p agree to "screw the brownie points".

so what? u've to send your prog schedule to them and seek their advice on which slot they expect u to do this? oh wait. they expect u to be able to manage your time. right.
