I've given up on being obsessive about the daily temperatures in Londontown. They change every other hour depending on whether it drizzles or if the sun is out. I only know that I've got enough warm clothes to last in 1°C or so.
I like what the weather does for my oily skin and hair. It makes both much more manageable with being dry. Everything's perfectly balanced in this humidity unlike in Singapore where I would sorely need to wash my hair twice a day. Here, by mid-afternoon, the hair doesn't go limp and my face doesn't resemble an oilpot.
I tell you, wool and cashmere dresses are the way to go to look stylish in winter! I'm not going to compromise on style and be wrapped up like an unshapely dumpling. That probably explains why I take a longer time to pack for winter travelling than the 20 minutes for my usual tropics.
In today's not-too-bad 4°C, I was quite snug in a thermal camisole and one of my many wool dresses. I only wore that and a heavy wool coat. I didn't need any extra clothing. So if it gets colder, I could just layer sweaters over. The tights and the boots are fantastic in keeping the legs warm. Throw in the accessories of a scarf, hat and gloves, I'm all good to go.
However, I'm frowning at the weather forecast of light snow and temperatures heading below zero this weekend. ARRRGH. I no like extreme cold. It makes me sluggish in the mornings. I don't quite relish the idea of leaving the nice toasty flat to brave the cold.

I tried for ages to resist the poofy jackets - and did. Then I just gave in and embraced the warmth :)
SNOW! Yay! I hope you get decent snow and not wet, icky sleet or the stuff that doesn't stick.
dawn: got! i've poofy jackets for the gig nights where i don't need fancy! poofy's warm, but not as warm as 100% wool stuff! this is london. Of course i'm going to get icky sleet. that's why i've a raincoat and an umbrella in my tote. snow would mean having to wear UGGS though. UGH.
D: aiyoh. I must be one of those who don't want a white Christmas!
Love that red bag! You are looking nice..
Brrrr...such a cold weather! I hate the itchy dry skin and peely face :(
wah, sleeveless! wool does wonders.
nice shot, babe! Love the outfit, and love the red bag that stands out in the ensemble.
There's a chinese saying - "oi leng, moi meng" - literally translates to "want beauty, don't want life". You know, it usually refers to e.g. women who suffer in their high heels but they had to wear it cos' it looks good.. hahaha..
No, I wasn't talking about you. Your stylish wear keeps you warm at the same time, so that's ok. Back in my uni days, I did have "oi leng, moi meng" moments! Wearing so little in the cold, just because I wanna look good. LOL!!
i refuse to wear poofy jackets/coats. i'd just freeze and die heheh. layering is the way to go with variable daily temps and within the day.
I think wool in rain/snow might be an issue - it gets heavy and can take a while to dry. I have one or two and I actually have never worn them yet!
pebbles: :) thanks! the 1 cheerful color in the wardrobe!
missyP: i'm okay though, coz my skin is quite oily to begin with. Here, my skin's very happy.
tuti: it's super warm. great for outdoors, but warm indoors. of course must still wear a heavy coat over lah.
jomel: I 'oi leng', also 'oi meng'! But I won't wear stilettos unless I've the driver around. I'm not going to walk the streets in uncomfortable heights!
sinlady: waahahaha. I can so imagine you looking chic in winter too.
dawn: wool in rain no problem- i is got umbrella. snow/wind might be dicey!
I love what going overseas does to my hair and skin too. Every strand lies flat and perfectly. My pores seem to shrink in the absence of humidity. Bliss!
You look absolutely AWESOME!! (:
i agree. my hair's always looking great in cold countries! back in sg, it's like limp like no one's business!
yann: exactly. for once, my face is smooth! No pimples even!
ice: awwww...thanks sweets!
OrientalQ: yah lor.
