Lantana Cafe

Seriously, Starbucks serve shite coffee. In Singapore, my usual cappucino dry always taste different at every cafe. More than not, they burn the milk. Since there're no decent coffee places in the vicinity of home or office, I'm still stuck with bloody Starbucks.

I refuse to pay homage to Starbucks in London. Not to Costa either. Why should I? There're plenty of little cafes tucked away in the city that serve up a way better brew. In these places, I'll only drink a flat white. That's how I gauge the standard of a cafe. Its flat white should be beautiful.

So you see, when I'm on vacation in certain countries, no matter whether I'm staying in a fancy serviced apartment or luxury hotel, I don't want to have its breakfasts. Not even if the breakfast spread is the fantastic sort like what Asia provides. I want to go out into the city and eat where everyone else grabs a bite from. I eat very little anyway.

Since Catty said so, I've got to pay a visit to Lantana Cafe. (Yes, they're on twitter too. You can't be surprised by now.) I like to go at a time that's after the breakfast rush and just before the lunch frenzy, so it's been very pleasant. Their flat white is good. Again, not Monmouth Coffee, but full of flavor. I heard they use beans from Monmouth Coffee! I wouldn't mind it daily, really. I should try their cappucino too.

I like the cafe's vibe. It's cheerful, arty and indie. I've gone to Lantana twice. Twice! And I keep forgetting to order its famed baked eggs. I've had croissants and scrambled eggs. I must eat its baked eggs SOON!

I don't go to coffee places much at all but I do like Starbucks' spiced apple cider. I was very impressed at the barista who made it for me and then told me she wasn't happy with the quality - tossed it out and made me another.

dawn: there's some eggnog latte here. i tell u, starbucks in US is wayy better (and cheaper) than in sgp. they know how to make coffee. our sgp baristas DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!

kikare: we're living parallel lives. i shall drink a cappucino for u tmrw.
