Modest Mouse @ Camden

We were off to catch the Modest Mouse gig (£17 only!!!) at Electric Ballroom. The event called for jeans and poofy jackets. Gig night = grungy clothes = no handbags. Gig venues allow alcohol and whatever. Chances of getting spilled on by something sticky is quite high. Best to wear clothes that are water resistant.

When gigs and shows to occupy some of the evenings, we really can't sit down to a fancy dinner. It's gotta be a quick one. Since we were at Camden, What better choice than to sort out a quick dinner at Haché Burger? (Forget Ultimate Burger and Hamburger Union man!) Haché Burger is like, one of the 10 best burger joints (I'm with Esquire on this one.) in the city. They've got plenty of vegetarian options too.

We were in time to hear the last couple of songs by opening act Polvo. Definitely didn't have enough time to get into it. They're a very technical band and not easy to sit through their songs which can last for a good 10 minutes each.

Modest Mouse opened their set with Paper Thin Walls. We liked the setlist. It was awesome to have 2 drummers. The drummers interacted, twisting and winding their drumming to ride on each other. All I cared about was that they played a solid Way Down. They did 3 encores, the last being Doing The Cockroach.

I didn't like those people who elbowed their way in the crowd. What to do? This is a gig, not a philharmonic concert. So for people who pushed, I shoved back double hard. People who intruded on my space, I more or less kicked them in the ankles and jabbed their ribs. Worked well enough over the loud music and stupid strobe lights.
