So I've been visiting friends and family. It isn't polite to go empty-handed. I decided to get them macarons as small gifts. The friends love them. I really like the macarons found in the little cafes in London compared to what I've tried at home.So I got gift boxes from Ladurée and Paul. (Dunno why Paul spelt them as macaroons on their website). As fun as the idea is, I'm not going to go to Paris just to get macarons from Pierre Hermé. I already did that in June. There will be a Pierre Hermé boutique in London soon, maybe next year.
I bought all the boxes in various sizes and numbers of macarons contained in them. My goodness, I did a double take at the final bill. Let's just say that these little round bits burnt quite a hole in my pocket.
Well, at least the friends loved the pretty boxes and polished off the contents before I can say Jimmy Cricket.

very sweet? haven't been out too much to find them around the better stores.
laduree macarons are AWESOME. i usually don't like mcarons too much but i never turn those down.
tuti: the macarons frm the usual shops in sgp are too sweet and not nice at all. the filling taste synthetic. i only eat macarons from a couple of places not in sgp. However, the rose macaron frm st regis is very very good.
beanbean: these are really really good. for once, i like the lemon and raspberry! i especially like the figs!
You have no idea how jealous I am imp! I've eaten Pierre Herme's macarons only once & after that, nothing else in sgp compares.
