Hanging Out With The Kids

It was an impromptu lunch date with the girls and their tots. I thought it would be nice to squeeze in a couple of hours and see them on a sunny day.

The adults had our food spread out on the table. But it didn't stop me from eyeing the tots' porridge and rice pasta. Heeee. But even though the tots grinned at me, they didn't offer me a bite. Hmmpppf.

Why am I not surprised that I can now sing (and dance to) 'Hot Potato' and 'Fruit Salad' from the Wiggles thingy now. I've an iPad and when it was tuned to songs by The Wiggles, it made me best friends with one tot. I just handed him the iPad and he tapped it all by himself to pick out the songs he wanted to hear. I swear the resolution on the youtube versions are splotchy just so that parents will buy the dvds for their kids instead. While being mildly horrified by the songs, I must comment that those strange men can dance. Like Mambo moves. You know, a thought just struck me. Oh dear. What did we listen to as kids that made us do Mambo signs like we've known them all our lives?

After splashing about in the shallow pool, I looked at the 2 adults. One was a little tired, but otherwise fine. The other was ready to fall asleep before the tots to re-charge for the next half of the afternoon. I was just sitting cross-legged on the floor giggling. There's something about the combination of water and sun that make children tired. The best sort of sleep-inducer. When the tots were all cool from their baths, their eyelids succumbed. The adults could then have a quiet moment too.

during the colleague's raya open house, the boss took out his ipad, and amongst that tableful of executives, only I, the housewife, went a little gaga over it. We became best friends, the boss and I. And then I turned to the mister and said, "I WANT!" Everybody started teasing him. All because of my drooling over the ipad, the conversation switched from work related to something else that's more fun and light. hahaha!
