年初三 :: 穿黑白

Sunshine aplenty today! I must be quite mad to wear wool shorts out. But it wasn't so bad. Each house was nicely air-conditioned. The rushing around didn't cause much perspiration. It's Day 3 of Chinese New Year. I don't give a shit to wearing colors anymore. Back to white and monochromes paired with patent stilettos and a deep black Lindy. The only item in the outfit that had color is the designated festive necklace.

I resolutely avoided all festive goodies, but gave in to a homemade curry puff. It was just made with potatoes and spices. But it was so tasty! Exactly the way I love my curry puffs. None of the A1, Old Chang Kee nonsense. Those are too fancy, and the ingredients are too complicated. I like curry puffs made basic.

Where do these people find so much time and energy to cook all these stuff from ground up? Yes, it's Chinese New Year and people feel obligated or happier to do more for the others during this period. Still! There's a tremendous amount of effort that goes into creating the food, providing the right alcohol, sprucing up the interiors, adding the little elegant or whimsical touches, and not forgetting the massive headache of cleaning-up after. Even with maids at hand, it's a truckload of effort clearing the mess after the last guests leave. One must either like cooking/baking very much, or loves hosting and entertaining. It's amazing.

hi imp. Sad to say, my current job requires the staff to work one full sat each month. So this year, I was schedulde to work on the 3rd day of CNY. Anyway, I managed to squeeze in all the necessary vistation on the first two days and managed to catch two movies. Catch up for tea on one of these days, yeah? :-)

After all the baking and cleaning (as you know), I've had it. No cooking or entertaining this CNY, whatsoever! I desperately needed the break. And very little mood for socialising out of the usual visits too.. Even an invitation tonight to a friend's house was politely declined. Haha..

iceaster: sure thing.

jomel: you do so much work BEFORE CNY that's enough to last for the month!
