The Cathedrals

Going through the provinces also gave us time to walk through the churches. Often, our counterparts will take us at least one significant church in the province. As fine and striking as these churches are, I honestly got a bit tired of seeing them; same rationale as seeing temples, mosques and synagogues. But I rather see something than not going out at all for a breath of fresh air.

After seeing so many churches consistently and consecutively, I began to pin the history of the area to a specific church and could almost tell the difference in the usage of building materials and decoration of the interiors. I could go on about each church in details, but that's not the point. I keep these memories for myself and in the photos. To me, no matter how mundane, a quiet moment in the pews is rejuvenating on this long tiring trip.

There's so much history oozing out of its architecture and ancient stones. For some reason, we keep stepping into Catholic churches, not intentionally so, but more of them coinciding with the rich history, fires, wars and emotions of the lands. The interiors are imposing, full of intricate and lovingly crafted sculptures, paintings and stained glass artworks that boast of talent and passion.
