Wandering Through Palacio Ferreyra
There're many stately old buildings in Argentina, leftovers from the grandeur and pomposity of the colonial era. Some stand empty, many are used as residential units, boutique hotels, shops and offices. Some have been refurbished into heritage monuments.
There're many palaces (palacio) still standing. Most have been granted conservation status. The Palacio Ferreyra in Córdoba is now an art museum. It's also otherwise known as the Evita Fine Arts Museum.
I took daresay that the museum isn't so much about the art pieces it holds, but more of the performances it hosts, along with the perfect blending of modern restoration pieces with its olden facade. If you want to see art pieces by the masters and the Argentine artists, go to the Caraffa Fine Arts Museum.
But holding events and dinners at the Palacio Ferreyra would certainly be ideal. There's a certain elegance and charm by virtue of simply being in the building and walking along its corridors. I love those old tiled and mosaic floors. Very very quaint. While the rest of the humans ate and enjoyed the tango show with rather bad dancers, I snucked out to the halls to stare at the display pieces and artworks on the wall. I read no Spanish, but I could google and make fairly good guesses at the gist of the explanatory notes tagged to each piece. Very nice.
