Salad, Finally

With the clothes in the washer merrily tumbling, the bff and I sprawled on the couch. There wouldn't be anything to do till the washing was done and the clothes were ready to be thrown into the dryer.

We could clean house, but it was pretty neat already. We vacuumed yesterday to rid the house of dust bunnies created by all our woolies. So many little bundles everywhere. UGGH. I just washed the toilets that morning. Aside from scrubbing the sink and the surrounding area, and wiping down the mirror and shower area, I wasn't mad enough to go scrub every inch of the toilet. The ah-yi (the thrice-a-week domestic help) can do that when she returns from her 2-week Chinese New Year holiday.

Easing into the couch and rubbing my full belly from lunch, I said, "Dear lawwd, I've never eaten so much in a month than here in Shanghai. Stop feeding me, will ya! I've put on weight." There's a well-equipped gym and a surprisingly clean heated pool at the estate. But I haven't utilized them at all. Jumping around the estate is fine, except the dreary weather (without the sun) makes me lazy to move my ass out of the nicely heated house.

"Like I haven't put on weight! I've never eaten this much in a day even. 2 full meals! Arrrrrgh. No wonder I need Yakult daily. We're bad for each other. Luckily you're going home soon. Otherwise I'd pile on more pounds." Bff retorted.

I groaned. "Please. When can we just have salad for meals? We always say it, and it has only happened for like...once." Bff shot me a withering look. She promised me that the evening meal would be a bloody hearty salad. She didn't lie. We pulled on our coats and went to the cafe round the corner for a hot coffee. After that, we went to City Super to buy greens and the necessary fresh ingredients. YAY.

Have always wanted to go to Shanghai.

And I feel the same way. One main meal a day is enough. Otherwise I feel so bloated.

bookjunkie: the city's pretty easy to get around. but the cab drivers speak no English. if you're not hiring a driver for the day, ensure that you've the Chinese equivalent of the destination in a hard copy to show them.
