While I can rough it out, I'm rather spoilt in terms of certain travelling habits. Yes, I met the man at Changi's lounge before taking the red eye out to Beijing together. But it wasn't really because I missed him that much. We didn't exchange a single phone call in Yunnan even though we had full access to dataroam, wifi and whatnots. :P We didn't exchange lengthy whatsapp messages either. Too busy lah. He was in a different timezone anyway. So, back to flying through Changi to Beijing. (Don't.even.think.about.asking.) It was ahemmm....really because I wanted to fly SQ and no other airline. Heeeeeee. I mean, from Kunming to Singapore, it isn't that long. I've got plenty of time. *shrug*
Comfortably seated in the hotel room in Beijing, flipping through his conference schedule, the man noted all the timings for early mornings and late nights. Those wouldn't leave him with a lot of time to explore the city. He wasn't inclined to extend the trip because we wanted to return to catch Elbow. The man wryly commented, "I don't suppose there's anyone else who comes to Beijing and not visit the Forbidden City or the Great Wall?" I looked at him and replied factually, "I'm sure many do that."
I've stuff to do in Beijing. My days will be filled. Not my first visit to the city. I've done three rounds of usual sights and places of interest in the city. Not keen to go again. There're a couple of friends to catch up with. A pity the bff can't come play with us. Boo. I've left evenings free to have dinner with the man. Playing it by ear, but doubt we can accept any of the dinner invitations handed out by the friends simply because his schedule is erratic.
Aiming to stay indoors for quite a bit. Air quality here sucks ass. There's sunshine and blue skies, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's fresh air. It isn't. That romantic misty sight in the mornings and evenings? That's haze. The permanent polluted smog that hangs over the city. If you don't hydrate and tank up on vitamins, your respiratory system will feel it, even if it's only for a couple of days.
