See Ya Hong Kong!
And I still make the mistake of calling Hong Kong, a country, in spite of its S.A.R. status for the longest time now. I've popped into its intriguing streets and alleys more often than expected within a short couple of months. It means that I get a chance to dig up ever-interesting finds in the city. The best part, the more frequent I hang out here, it's all about doing things that involve open sea, sandy trails, rocks and trees, understanding the psyche of Hong Kongers and new immigrants in this thrilling chapter of the city's history, and of course, learning about its food.
(And this article is just hilarious. Half of it applies to Singaporeans too. No.7- the man makes me do the ordering in Cantonese so that he can tailor them to specific demands. Like putting a whole soy-braised pigeon on a bed of sang choy, with a teaspoon of oyster sauce at the side. Not a tablespoon wor. No, cannot separately stir-fry the vegetables. It can be rather exasperating. I was like, 'tell them yourself lah!')
You know how some cities are prettier in certain seasons, and we're inclined to visit them only during those periods. Hong Kong, to me, is an all-season city. It's so uncannily similar to home, yet so different. The vibes are all new and exciting. The city is ever-changing. Plenty to see and plenty to do.
Ta! Perhaps I'll see you again soon.
