Mom-At-Work
We usually gloss over lunch and prefer to place emphasis on dinner. My mid-day meal needs to be light, for whatever reasons that go against all recommended diet plans. Some of the friends stick to a no-carbs regime after 6pm. I was like that when trying to drop the weight. Now, I'm slightly more open to carbs at dinner, but not on a daily basis. Lucky for Singaporeans, there's so much variety of food to choose from that carbs are quite unnecessary, unless I'm doing some major burning calories in one way or another.
At 10pm at Imperial Treasure MBS, the crowd hadn't abated. The supervisors were kept busy with a full restaurant. When the steamed fish arrived, our server was a little unsure of what to do. Mommy frowned and waved her away. If the server wasn't too confident in filleting the fish, then we should do it. Yes, fish has bones, but there's a way of slicing the flesh to minimize bones in each mouthful. Mommy is an expert in doing it. She took the fork and spoon, proceeded to fillet the fish herself, and portioned it out to everyone.
The garouper came properly steamed. We always caution the maitre'd not to over-steam the fish. We don't want to have to send it back if the kitchen messes up the timing. So each visit hasn't been disappointing. This outlet has done our fish perfectly. There was silence for 2 minutes as everyone poked at the fish in their bowls, put the bones aside and picked out flesh to eat. I swirled mine around and grinned. Out of all portions at the table, I got the only portion without bones at all. Heeeee. Can you spell s-p-o-i-l-t?
