Art In A Glass
Had a long afternoon of video calls to sort out various matters, and a rather exasperating discussion at the airline office. Not the website. These bookings are too complicated. Not the airline's fault. I was booking tickets for other people, and these other people's flight routes are quite tedious. Anyway, since the understanding is, 'get us there in the shortest time on SQ', I get full say in their travel itinerary. Muahahaha. Common sense lah, they want SQ, then these are the only routes possible for their unchangeable travel dates.
Anyway. After all that brainwork, I needed alcohol. Decided to hop into Bar Stories for drinks at the last minute. Made a call, and they had time to pick up. So I figured that on this weekday night, seats weren't that coveted. Good. I don't like waiting 20 minutes for a cocktail. On non-weekends, at least the bartenders aren't as harried and my cocktails are done within 10 minutes from point of order.
My date likes her alcohol sweet and fruity. Plenty of choices on the menu. The bartender had lots of ingredients to work with. Her drinks turned out prettily in various colors. Mine came in mainly orange or brown. Hahahaha. I stuck to stick to whisky and rum. Always, for cocktails. Already, the sugar content is more than my usual whisky on the rocks. Morever, I've no interest in having a hangover from white spirits, especially the unbearable gin. Gin kills me.
This new (to me) bartender, Alex, made my drinks. I hope I haven't scared him with my various demands and specific requests for the type of alcohol to be used. :P He's dependable lah. His best concoction of the evening had to be the rum paired with ginger extract and ginger beer. I saw the bottle of Angostura 1919 on the shelf and asked Alex to make something with it. I loved it. Superbly cold and refreshing. I finished it in double-quick time. And yes, you need to really like ginger. I was rather tickled by the mountain of ice it came in. Rather dramatic.
