All Things Pink

Neck deep in a pile of research and unfinished slides on the powerpoint, I was glad to take a break for tea with Y and lil'Missy. The girl was dozing. We had hopes for her to continue snoozing. But she woke up, gave me a hug on her own accord, didn't think it was worth her while to go back to sleep, and somehow, remembered about the ice-cream. AIYAH. Was hoping she might have forgotten.

Her mommy approved of her having ice-cream today. At the cafe, the very pleasant server was excellent. She bent to accommodate lil'Missy's height and rattled off the 3 flavors. Lil'Missy knew her preferences, and gave her order with no prompting from us. She'd eat whatever she ordered. The huge scoop of strawberry ice-cream came garnished with itty bits of her favorite berries. This bright megawatt smile lit her entire face when the cheerful plate was placed in front of her. Y and I snucked scoops of the ice-cream, just so she didn't eat all of it.

Quietly, lil'Missy fingered the hook of my bag, grinned and stated, "This is a new bag." I blinked. Certainly an unexpected comment from a little girl. "Nope! It's something I already have, but one which you haven't seen." Wah...little girls learn fast. Anyway, she was more interested in giving me a card of a bear she drew. She wanted the drawing to replace the bear I lost when it fell out of the car last month. She gave specific instructions for it to be kept properly and not to be thrown away. It's a wonderful replacement. (She was rather upset the other time my maid unknowingly threw away her 2 masterpieces. So she remembers.)

This isn't a place for coffee, but a decent joint for tea. Had bits of stuff to fill my stomach after an early morning without much lunch. We didn't want a full-sized tiered tea set. The cafe acceded to our request of having a scaled-down version. Totally loved the bite-sized scones and banana friand with raspberry. We had a quiet corner where lil'Missy could play and draw with crayons and printed balloons on a paper provided by the cafe. Hot tea was good. Mariage Frères' Sur Le Nil and Fuji-Yama were a nice accompaniment to the conversation while the little one drew and had fun with the tea strainers and tea leaves.
