Checking Out A Cat

A very random date on a weekday evening. Needed to have a quick dinner before trying my luck with a cat. I wanted to see a very cute cat that the girlfriend had spotted months back, and occasionally feeds. She knows that I would love that adorable face, so she told me all about it. Also, his tipped ear says it all. Feeding is NOT illegal, by the way, if it hasn't already been shouted out over the rooftops by mainstream media or the town councils. Feed 'em dry food if you can. Creates less stinky wet poo that won't annoy cleaners and the residents.

Found the chwee kuweh stall at the hawker centre that was still open. Hurrah. There was no other craving for any other food. Totally no nutritional value to this meal. It was carb-laden, oily and filled with empty calories. But I like chwee kueh, and I haven't had them for months. So I ate it anyway, with an extra scoop and a half of preserved radish in oil that the stall auntie made me pay an additional 30 cents for.

We weren't sure if he would be around that evening. As it is with community cats, the estate's grounds are their home; they don't exactly plonk in one spot all the time. Didn't take us long to spot him. It was there! It's a gorgeous ginger tabby. Male. Sterilized. Healthy. Clean. Not exactly friendly, but he's used to humans. I'm generally fond of tabby cats. Ginger, however, is the exact coloring that I love. If I could, I would adopt this one. Except he's in an estate with fairly responsible feeders, in good hands, so to speak. May he stay safe.

Rather unglamorous shots. He wasn't particularly interested in posing for me.

misti: in the ceiling? He should be able to find his way down. Hope he gets out soon.

Beautiful. I love the idea of an estate cat free to roam about :)

bookjunkie: only if they're sterilized. And hopefully they've responsible feeders in the estate who're also sane, and have negotiated with the town council the matter of culling vs responsible mgmt of community (stray) cats.

It is precisely the disinterested look that made these photos great. You are a fabulous cat photographer.
