Ate Our Way Through The Streets

The friends only had a couple of hours in Singapore on transit; the first-time visitors wanted to go somewhere local. We took them to the bustling Ramadan Bazaar at Geylang Serai where we joined other friends to buka puasa. Dinner was awesomely sorted. So much variety and spice. After staying off chilli and spices for so long so as not to irritate the healing gums, I ate my heart out too. Wieeeeeee.

In the cool of the night, six of us took a stroll down to Geylang to check out its mysterious lorongs and exciting activities. They gamely tried durians at the brightly lit stalls. Unfortunately we didn't manage to finish even one fruit. I absolutely refused to eat one. Ugh. At some point, everyone got hungry, again. Off we trooped to the Teochew porridge stall at Lorong 37 for some chow.

The Singaporeans didn't do the ordering! Our friends did. We abandoned them at the food display counter, and left them to do the pointing. When the plates of food came, I did a double-take. Filled up the whole table! Luckily they ordered only 4 bowls of porridge to share, but the carbs were enough to feed a group. I only wanted steamed egg and none of the carbs! Those two (tourists) seated clearly didn't understand our fascination with taking photos. They just wanted to eat. Hahaha. Hey, the Singaporeans weren't the only ones grabbing shots!
