At Otto For Hours

It was fantastic to sort out a dinner date with this bunch of girls at the dependable Otto Ristorante. I haven't had its sea urchin and zucchini pasta for months. As much as I love the other dishes on the menu, I've never been able to resist this pasta on each visit. Super satisfying.

Haven't seen them altogether in a while and it was a great evening out just chatting. When I finally glanced at the watch, it was like...10.10pm. WOAH. Where did the time go? Those hours simply flew by! We've always managed to separately meet, but with the arrival of children and heavier workloads at the office, it's tougher for us to makan together. Takes a fair bit of planning to match schedules, and when everyone makes an effort, magic happens.

Can't even remember when we all first got together. It was most certainly a social media connection. Kickstarted the acquaintance-ship. However, the work links back then with these girls helped the most because I'm fairly resistant to meeting new people; even worse if they're friends of friends. Being other people's friends don't make anyone naturally my friend. And I'm almost always right when it comes to sussing out whether I can talk to someone based on their social media inclinations. It's not that easy to create a totally different persona offline. Since then, with this group, it has always been accompanied by loads of laughter and a genuine concern that one another is doing all right. Even if we can't physically catch up all the time, we're on social media, and just a phone text away. We can deal with our own stuff, but a virtual hug now and then is always welcome.

When the mains arrived, I was shaking so hard with laughter that this photo is blurred.
Those similar poses!

Heh. The usual 'take-a-photo-before-we-eat' ritual.
