กะเพราคุณพ่อ

The man really wanted to eat at Kaprow Khun Phor (กะเพราคุณพ่อ) in Silom. Ditched the cabs; it's not difficult to find our way there via the BTS station. It's a cute little restaurant. Definitely glad for air-conditioning at the restaurant in this crazy heat. As its suggests, it serves phad krapow (ผัดกะเพรา). It refers to stir-fried meats and seafood with holy basil, and served with rice. It's a staple in all Thai kitchens and something we all can whip up when we're far from home.

The menu offers plenty of easy one-dish meals with customizable spice levels and additional chillies at the side. The kitchen offers brown rice too, if you so choose. Decided to go for broke by ordering krapow muu (ผัดกะเพราหมู)- stir-fried minced Kurobuta pork with basil and chillies with steamed white rice. I went conservative and asked for 'spice Level 2'  in mine. It was so satisfying.

Kaprow Khun Phor took the casual one-dish staple and added a creative spin on it. Besides the usual options of stir-fried beef, chicken or pork, there was an oyster krapow (apparently using oysters from Surat Thani), and also a seafood version with fresh shrimps, scallops and squid. The man was in krapow heaven. Casual homecooked goodness. So deliciousssss!

Hehe. Such a gimmicky heart-shaped pan, but so fun.
