We're very fond of THE CHEESE ROOM at Basilico's weekend brunch buffet, and that usually influences our decision of where to eat when it comes to group luncheons. I suppose the restaurant has caught on to a winning formula with its buffet lunches on week days and weekends. It's got a wonderful selection of foods too. It totally works for us. Till we find a more exciting venue, D's birthday luncheon is again held here, and everyone has something delicious to eat.
The birthday girl banned all of us from getting her any sort of gift. "No presents," she warned. We complied. Then... she accepted presents from a little girl. Little Em had painstakingly crafted soaps and chocolate cookies for her dear Aunty D, and excitedly explained to her all about the gifts. UNFAIR. Hahahah. That's all right. We get D gifts through the year in various formats anyway. At Christmas, we tell one another 'NO GIFTS', and we separately get little Em toys, books and candy. Kids get all the privileges! 😃
We've given up fighting with the birthday girl (and her husband) over the bill for this one. It has been this way for years. None of us have won the argument on this date. Prosecco, cheese, good food, conversation and friends. We stayed till the buffet closed, and hung out a little bit more.
