SKAI

C is back in town and before she flew out again, she bought us the loveliest dinner at newly opened SKAI (it replaces Equinox). The restaurant offers tourists that 'Crazy Rich Asians' view. Well, it does offer an expansive view of Singapore's downtown business district. Drinks, as always, are pricey. Zzzz. Dunno if the cocktails are good. I went with one easy glass of Chianti.

We shared everything and had a good mix of vegetables and meats. Black Pearl oysters with nashi pears, smoked bonito and wasabi, and heirloom tomatoes with burrata was an appetizer start to the meal. I couldn't resist getting the uni saffron risotto. Cooked in cucumber, cured egg yolk and citrus, it was as delicious as I expected it to be.

The meats were wonderful. A fillet of sea bream beautifully cooked in bamboo leaf held nori, razor clam and tomatoes. The combination was surprisingly light and refreshing. I really enjoyed that. We shared the steak one that filled my 'good beef' quota for the month. It was delicious and I was so glad that we shared. Our stomachs have shrunk. None of us could polish off that by ourselves or even between two people. Opted for sides of grilled asparagus and Savoy cabbage. We picked a 700g Porterhouse Black Angus from Stanbroke Farms, Australian MB4. It came properly done medium-rare.
