It has been really fun catching up with the different groups of friends for so many shows at SIFA. Lots of coffee went around. Pre-show light drinks (I opted for smoothies and juices). The one thing I didn’t want to do was alcohol. Bedtime was also sacrosanct. I politely bailed out of every post-show party invite.
In between the many shows across different venues, we needed food and we found options in the City Hall area. I couldn't deal with any more cute canapés, and often, an egg mayo sandwich of sorts is extremely palatable. When we have a longer break between shows, we get to sit down to eat instead of standing around with some sort of takeaway food. That works, but after a while, it gets tiresome. I want to sit down and gobble bigger chunks of something.
Managed to round up P and P for an early dinner. We had 80 minutes. Given the walking distance versus fickle weather, Raffles City mall is an ideal dinner stop between SIFA venues of Arts House and SOTA. Putien was chosen since it opens early and takes reservations. We ordered comfort food—the restaurant’s signature beehoon, cabbage and tofu soup, and prawns with minced garlic. Everyone enjoyed these good flavors that made our stomachs super happy.
I love Putien’s stir-fried Heng Hwa beehoon. It provides carbs in a palatable and tasty format. Such a winner. I can’t fry up beehoon this thinly or do it so dry. It calls for a big fire and a really hot wok, neither of which my kitchen can accommodate. Happy to have this convenient version at Putien! A medium portion was eagerly polished off by a hungry table.
