We kept passing by Un-Yang-Kor-Dai, but never went in for a meal. Finally found a time for lunch and made a date with J and L! It was sort of a belated birthday lunch for J, so we made sure he over-ate. The restaurant is located on South Bridge Road, nicely near PUNCH (for coffee), and I grinned when I spied a F45 gym a few doors down. Motivation. Hurhurhur. It's fairly spacious and best of all, they take reservations online, and the kitchen could handle a full lunch crowd.
Promising Isaan-style Thai food, we were not disappointed by Un-Yang-Kor-Dai's kitchen. I'm really happy that there's another good option for Thai food in town. The PenLaos Signature Grilled Chicken was marinated with familiar Thai spices. Our half portion of grilled chicken was just right for the table to still have sufficient space for the rest of the food. The spicy and sour pork rib soup was indeed as delicious as they promised. It came with a flourish of torching the pork ribs at the table and the soup was then poured over it.
It was a table of four, so we made it to dessert. Red ruby with mango on shaved eyes and coconut milk, and its famous Thai milk tea pudding. Horrors, can you believe that I forgot to order a plate of som tam with salted egg!!! And brown glutinous rice! Arrrgh. I need to return soon, to eat their som tam!
