A Jolly Brolly Blouse

Sweet Y passed me a most precious gift of a one-off MissyMessy blouse. She has named the fabric design as a 'Jolly Brolly', and it's a little girl's dress in the shop. The dear friend and her mother-in-law has sewn me a special blouse in my adult size every year for my birthday. 😍

This year's precious gift was hung up and hoarded for a few months in the wardrobe before I finally wore it. Well, I wanted the first wearing to be an 'occasion' of sorts. Wore it to the opening weekend at SIFA, and a number of subsequent shows. (Of course I laundered it. It dries fast in this heat.) Hahahah. Depending on the weather and how light I want my bag to be, I'll either wear it like this, or with a camisole underneath. It looks much better without a camisole because of the cut-in flaps at the back.

I dunno how Y gets the measurements down pat. I never needed alteration of any sort on my MissyMessy blouses. She has never taken my measurements either. She assumed! My 'Jolly Brolly' blouse is sewn from a fabric of a whimsical pattern and suited many moods, matching many bottoms and accessories to either keep it casual or dress it up. Importantly, it's comfortable and fits perfectly over the shoulders and at the waist. I love it loads!

Such a lovely print! It reminds me to take some beautiful fabrics that my MIL owned as she used to run tailoring business for Japanese ladies when my husband was young. Ideas!

Missy Messy always manages to find really chic fabric prints and designs. oh wow! perhaps your MIL could still tailor a few pieces of blouses for you if she isn't tired of handling a sewing machine now. :)
