Made a date with J and D. I love how we always find a date and make the effort to have a meal together and simply chat. We could do it at restaurants, cafes or wherever. This round, I was very happy to host. Of late, it seems to be easier to host lunches at home rather than dinner when prep time interferes with Choya's evening walk if the man isn't around to take her. HAHAHAH.
Choya? Ahhhhh. She now knows the drill when friends visit. In fact, she only barked at J for 30 seconds (whom she hadn't met) before calming down. After that, she allowed pats and tickles from both ladies. She was on best behavior for the afternoon. D bought her ANOTHER toy. She's the culprit in spoiling her! I swear she's in cahoots with the man on this point about indulging the dog.
Now, lunch. I wasn't going to order food in. Whatever for? For the taste and the prices of the selection I get in this area via the food delivery apps, I'd rather cook, especially now that I have sorted out the schedule. It would mean cooking some dishes a day ahead, but that's okay. I doubt anyone's THAT PICKY about eating food that's sat in the fridge the night before. I don't have any issues with that since I store them well in air-tight boxes. When hosting guests, I generally heat up the food in the oven or steam them in the pot. It wasn't at all troublesome to cook, not when I'm someone who gets the logistics down to a T.
On the menu this afternoon was braised vermicelli, stir-fried nai bai and baby kai lan with shimeji, tauhu telur and nasi kuning. I didn't cook that tauhu telur. It was bought. For the crunch of deep fried items that I can't produce in my kitchen. Hurhurhur. (Nope, that air-fryer isn't looking any more attractive.)
That nasi kuning though, was done in the pot. Yup, you read that right. I didn't even bother with the electric rice cooker. I could have simply packed that too, from the same restaurant when I got the tauhu telur. But nasi kuning isn't difficult to prep. It's mainly turmeric and lemongrass. I have every item in the larder, including frozen coconut milk. But I decided to substitute coconut milk with yoghurt. :P It turned out quite delicious. Hurhurhur.
It was such a lovely way to spend time with the friends. We could also do this on the weekend. However, it just feels really special when friends take time out from the office and their usual schedules to meet on a Friday afternoon. Much love.

Yes, I had a great time, eating, chatting, getting to know Choya and relaxing in your lovely home.
We must do this again. Always good to have you.
Finally got to try Imp's cooking. To think you've been saying you can't cook for years.....
Also I do not spoil Choya. She's a very good girl.
@D: Helloooo.... I can cook------ instant noodles/udon/soba + eggs + blanch vegetables. SURE. that's more or less what you ate. Ha.
