The Cheese Artisans

At this Greenwood Avenue location, The Cheese Artisans shares a space with Wimbly Lu. If you're just there for cheese and wine, it works. Of course there's ice-cream, pies and cakes too. But if you're looking for decent grub, it's a resounding NO. There's middling carbs and food to fill stomachs, but you might as well save the space for supper elsewhere. It feels more like a buy-and-go place rather than a cosy wine-and-cheese cafe.

We alternate between The Cheese Artisans and The Cheese Ark at Stirling Road. We're happy to have bread and cheese for dinner and don't need much else. Cheese can be my main as well as dessert. Hurhurhur. The Cheese Ark has a more conducive ambience and offers much better service and drink-pairing options (they offer whisky and beer). The 9pm closing time is friendly for us.

I'm so glad that my stomach is fully recovered from that weird bout of gastroenteritis. I would have hated to miss this dinner date with the ladies at The Cheese Artisans. The date was set a month ago. Yeah, my friends are dead serious about dates and literally plan dates a month in advance. Hahaha. I love it that we generally succeed in keeping to these happy dates.

It's always good to see these girlfriends. We talk often via text messages and such, or if we have specific work things to check in with one another, we get coffee. We mostly lead such separate lives that we have to make the effort to set aside time for one another. A platter of good selections of cheeses, a standard basket of fries with chili sauce, a plate of spaghetti carbonara and a seafood pizza plus a few scoops of ice-cream accompanied the wonderful conversation tonight.
