Awadhi cuisine is heavily influenced by Moghul styles, and has evolved into what we know as the mainstays of Lucknow, capital state of Uttar Pradesh. We were all curious about Awadh at Centerpoint Mall and happily went for dinner. It was surprisingly good! The spices were wonderful and their chicken korma was indeed very different from the usual.
Also, we've all read the fine piece of investigative journalism in the longform article researched and written by Ellen Barry- 'Jungle Prince of Delhi' published in The New York Times on November 22, 2019. The Kingdom of Oudh / Oudh State or otherwise Awadh State was a region in Awadh before the British annexed it in 1856 and by the following year, it ceased to exist, along with the dissolution of the Mughal Empire.
It was unsurprising that we skipped dessert and opted for drinks at the friends’ home. Accompanied by a really campy film ‘KL Zombi’. It’s fun lah. We’re really too old to be gallivanting on a week-day night when we all need to wake up at 6.30/7am the next day. The friends are amazing. There was a slice of cake and a candle. This was a last-minute visit; they had no way of even knowing that we would stop by. (We generally go home to our pets asap. Heh.) It was hilarious. I dunno how people would stock random cakes and candles at home. I most certainly don’t. Do you? They managed to rustle up a slice of the mother’s — Aunty J’s famous date sponge cake, and plonked a candle on it.
