Crabs at Ban Leong Wah Hoe

When the friends suggested the dinner venue at Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood, we were, "OKAY!". It had been a really loooong time since we ate at the seafood eatery; easily two years ago methinks. We tend to avoid zi char eateries because the food is really oily, and each time I eat at one, I never fail to get the (oil) runs after. Unless I stick to eating steamed fish and plain rice.

As much as the man loves crabs, he has controlled those cravings. It was time to give in to those. Luckily for him, the friends love crabs too. Surprisingly, the table only ordered ONE crab. A 1.5kg crab. Hahaha. They wanted to order two crabs (one in chilli gravy and the other in black pepper), but they were mindful of...cholesterol. One chilli crab it was. I giggled. We're all getting old lah. When the crab arrived, I took only a sliver from the pincer. Crabs aren't kind to my allergies, and my ear lobe is still rotting.

I ignored the prawn paste chicken wings (har jeong gai) took just a bit of the mee goreng, and gave my carbs and oil quota to the deep fried mantou. Hurhurhur. I kinda like dipping mantou in the chilli crab gravy. We had beer. With ice cubes. Wahahaha. Why not. Warm beer is terrible, and ice cubes in this weather makes it more like a spritzer. Okay ah! Nobody's looking for craft beer flavors here. A casual dinner with these friends in their hood on a week day night is always a great way to catch up with one another's lives.
