Hamachi Collar In Rendang Rempah at O'maJ

When O'maJ announced that they were trotting out a new menu, we were pleased too. As much as we like their regular standard fare, it's always nice to try new items from a kitchen that could cook and taste what John has envisioned in these new dishes. I really enjoyed their Caesar's salad with smoked salmon in anchovy dressing, and a wine-poached (half) cabbage.

We had made a random dinner date with the friends for dinner too, and were glad they made it with Maddie! Their newly adopted doggo Misty stayed home. She's super sweet too, but it would take some time to familiarize her to all these new sights and sounds as she works on feeling more secure. Meanwhile, Maddie is such a darling in her stripe-y dress and she wasn't afraid to check out the restaurant. Choya did her usual sleep in a corner thing between the arrival of her food (an order of delicious seared salmon from the restaurant), and quaffing it down. Hahaha.

Tonight, I was really here to eat the hamachi collar in rendang rempah. It was a pre-order and I had to control my desire for carbs so that I could properly taste this. It most certainly didn't come with steamed rice. Hahahaha. I suppose you could try asking for a plate... The rendang rempah was elegant and not fiery-spicy. I loved this dish. It was absolutely delicious. I ate every morsel.

There was a little celebration to be had too, for two years of hard work and a solicitor assessment passed. So the friends brought along a pleasing bottle of red, and luckily our food did it justice. Towards the end of the meal, shoyu and ajitsuke tamago appeared in two cute platters. The kitchen said they were experimenting again. I have no idea if these eggs are going to accompany other mains or they could be ordered as sides. But yes, if I can't be bothered to do shoyu eggs at home, I'd order these here and eat them. Wheeeee.
