NUDE :: ‘Grandpa’s Pomfret Soup’

I’ve missed NUDE Seafood’s tasty and easy foods. Luckily for me, their Marina One outlet’s kitchen is operational and I could order online and stop by to pick up the food. With the family business of Hai Sia Seafood ensuring that NUDE's supply chain remains constant and fresh, our takeaway dinner wasn't disappointing. It was an extremely good dinner that made our stomachs very pleased.

The restaurant included a thoughtful little gift of apples for us. Many restaurants do that. Apples are super practical. We eat apples, so our apples have been supplied by all the restaurants so far. Heh. The man loved the hearty grey mullet aglio olio. He wasn’t expecting it to come with a whole fillet of grey mullet. It was perfectly grilled, and accompanied by vegetables and generous strips of bacon. The linguine was properly boiled al dente. He was most thrilled with it.

Their ‘Grandpa’s Pomfret Soup’ (外公鱼汤) was superb. Ordered two portions of this because I wasn’t gonna share with the man. Hahahah. The restaurant knew to pack the soup and ingredients separately so that nothing got mushy. The portion of soup came with jasmine rice, but you could skip that if you aren't keen. Some people simply scoop the rice into the soup and slurp it all up, traditional Teochew style. I usually prefer to have udon or thick beehoon with fish soup. The menu states that the soup carries no additional salt, and they packed an additional tub of tau-cheo for us to add in if salt is desired. With all the umami in there, it didn't needs any condiments, but we had to have soy and cut a few pieces of chilli padi for the slices of pomfret. This is easily one of the best fish soups out there. I loved what I had tonight. Totally ordering this again soon.

The fridge always has coriander and fried shallots as garnish for our meals.
