We celebrated one year of Choya at the grandpawrents’ home with dinner ordered from O’maJ. Nothing for the dog. Muahahahaha. BUT the good folks of O’maJ really love Choya and packed along a tub of her favorite Norwegian trout in the cutest holder. It was such a delightful surprise. We were really touched by the restaurant’s gesture. We hope to be able to celebrate her birthday at O'maJ properly in October. Fingers crossed.
We had a small cut of steak which arrived nicely done with a pink center, ‘The Bourdain’ spaghetti with meatballs, a Nam Yu roast chicken with a whole head of blanched broccoli, glutinous rice and purple cabbage, salt and pepper prawns, and octopus terrine. We had to try their new item of spicy seafood paella with a slab of Chilean seabass. It came delivered in a ridiculously cute paella pan. The man got to taste their peanut butter ramen with apricot jam, cumin frog legs, bacon and ajitsuke eggs; he liked all the ingredients in this innovative bowl of ramen.
I had to rein in my desire to eat more, because, indigestion had struck again. Ugh. I was only on my third dose of probiotics, and decided not to risk it by overloading the stomach with meats. I only gave in to having the glutinous rice, a few spoonfuls of paella and fish, and broccoli. It's hard to have O'maJ's menu when it's just the two of us. Ordering two items is simply not worth the delivery charges or our effort to head out and pick it up. With five people, we could order a few more items from O'maJ to share, and that totally justifies the expenditure.
Choya also had her cake (minced beef loaf and such) from Barking Good. It was baked in the shape of her current favorite toy — the starfish — her Starfish-fwend. What a grand dinner she had that night. The cake was sliced up into portions for her meals over the next few days. Some would be frozen and some would be kept in the fridge. Tonight, she took a chunk of the cake in the form of minced beef, carrots, turmeric, rosemary, carrots, broccoli and such. O’maJ’s generous squares of Norwegian trout with all its oil, skin and gelatinous goodness were the topper in her dinner bowl. Wheeeeee. She ate up everything and asked for seconds. Nope, she didn’t get that; she only got a few extra cubes of fish.
