Whooshed To East Coast Park

The first thing we did on Friday morning, which was Day 1 of 'Exiting Circuit Breaker: Phase 2' — we whooshed to East Coast Park. The beach and carparks had been cordoned off for the last few weeks. Ugh. We could legitimately drive and park there now and stroll along the paths instead of being accused of 'exercising outside our neighborhood'.

The dog seemed to know that today's walk was different. When we parked the car, she sniffed the air and  then grunted at me to hurry up and put on mask so that she could get out quickly. When we swopped out her leash to the longer runner, she was panting a little, because, excited. She zoomed out like an arrow from the car and ran around in circles first. She hadn't been to the beach or felt the sea breeze for months.

Wow, NParks was really efficient — the grass was trimmed in a huge hurry, evident from the uneven swathes. Not everything was cut; it was nice to still see some tall grass even as the sides had been neatened. The park was surprisingly not too crowded. It was such a pleasure to feel the wind in our faces and slowly enjoy the morning. The dog loves running around on sand, and so she could now indulge in a bit of crazy sprinting. She doesn't seem to like the seawater that much though. She doesn't mind wet sand, but she still runs away from the waves.

The dog happily rolled around on grass too, and chased after the piles of cut grass. She peed like, ten times, obviously to mark and because she was happy. She gave us big goofy grins. We were thrilled to see her happy. We're holding out on dog runs for now, because, ticks. Although Choya isn't fond of rolling about in the far corners of the dog runs where ticks lurk, we'll give it some time for the grass to get trimmed and such before venturing there next weekend. Unless the heavy rains wash out everything in the dog parks and get it nice and clean again.

Check out her ultimate pee stance.
She loves marking like this. Zzzzzz.
Really unglamorous.
