I didn't get Gordon Koh's prawn vadai at the last round because we still had tons of frozen vadai waiting to be eaten. Hahaha. So Gordon Koh's Curry Debal (Curry Devil or Devil's Curry or Kari Debal) it was. Gordon's wife Milly always packs up our orders so nicely for us. Bought a few tubs for ourselves and to give away to the friends. That evening, I broke out a tub for the season. December and all its rainy days make me crave for spices.
Potatoes in curries are a must. Mmmm. I could eat just potatoes and curry and ignore the rice. But cocktail sausages? I've never understood why so many versions of Devil's Curry contain cocktail sausages. I'm like, 'is it really isn't necessary??' but the man insists that Devil's Curry isn't Curry Debal if it doesn't hold cocktail sausages. Hmmm. Every family does a different iteration of Curry Devil. Gordon Koh's version is decent! He does it spicy, with no cabbage.
Again, a simple dinner like this at home doesn't require loads of stuff. Didn't feel like going out specially to buy vegetables. Found plenty in the fridge that I should finish up. Besides half a head of cabbage, there were carrots and tomatoes. Added ikan bilis. I tossed them all into the pan to make a random dish. #ImpieCooks2020 Just the Curry Devil and stir-fried cabbage for an easy dinner worked well for us.
