Cheese at Merci Marcel

Celebrated S's birthday at Merci Marcel at Palais Renaissance. This is also my first visit to this fancy address, and also at dinner. The outlet's decor is kept casual chic, and the vibes felt nice instead of being standoffish. I've never eaten at its sister cafes at night. I usually stop by Merci Marcel at Tiong Bahru Estate since the area fulfilled all my dog-walking and errand-running requirements.

The dinner menu is not wide, but it offers a range of food to suit many dietary preferences, and those suit all our tastebuds. We went for a light but satisfying meal. We shared all the food. There were cheese, bread, and a small round of superb Beillevaire butter, an overly-salty duck confit, and a surprisingly decent roasted squid with clams, buttery mashed potatoes and crème de piquillos (it's pepper sauce, effectively the very familiar 'salsa').

The birthday girl is clearing a number of medical screenings and can't have alcohol for a few weeks. But we drank a bottle of white on her behalf anyway. Hahaha. So glad that we all could do a 6.20pm meet. It gave us time to linger and dawdle, and we still get to do other stuff when we get home, and get to bed all before midnight.

We celebrate you, S. We cheer you on and walk with you in this journey. May this season of life be about quietude, God and occasionally putting yourself first in order to recharge. Then you can fill a larger tank to continue giving and contributing to the family, community and to all that you care about. To strong women. ☀️🌳
