The New Signature Reserve

Last week, the friends invited a bunch of us to their newest bar at The Fullerton Hotel- Signature Reserve (by Quaich Bar). Tonight was a 'friends and family' peek at what the new bar offers. This bar took over the entire space and kitchen of the old Post Bar (that was shuttered for two years). I love that giant bear welcoming us at the entrance!!! Signature Reserve officially opens today.

The current food menu is still being fine-tuned. It isn't a full-fledged menu yet, but there're some hits in its rather substantial bar bites. There was a refreshing salad of okra and cucumbers. I loved those grilled vegetable skewers. Teriyaki chicken and leek should be friendly, and if you like lamb (I don't, not in this form), those lamb skewers would be nice too. The Shaoxing wine-infused lupcheong rice was fun. It isn't claypot rice of course. It's a gentler version. Still tasty. This isn't exactly a dinner menu, so it might not fill our tummies fully, but for a light one, it would do.

This is a much fancier venue for whisky than Quaich Bar's other concepts. It's a relief to know that the bars survived the lockdown Circuit Breaker, and 2020, and are surfing through the pandemic challenges and holding on. I'm very glad for the friends who have been working their asses off to make it happen, and to keep all their staff employed with full salaries.

It has been a while since we all hung out in a bar. Heh! The man and I haven't bothered with fulfilling social invitations like this for a long time either. We used to be such barflies. Oof. It was kinda nice seeing everyone again. Now we're a little older, we have a lot more responsibilities on our plate, so hanging out for hours at bars isn't priority anymore. Also, fitness and health take precedence over filling our systems with alcohol. As much as we need a drink, we gotta do a hit and run at the nearest beer joint, or swig a bottle at home. We left at 10pm, because the dog needed her dinner and a night pee. Heh.
