It took a while for the sushi craving to hit. A takeout from Hakumai it was. We've always been fond of the restaurant's offerings, and Chef Gary is a nice dude. It's our interest to do our bit to keep him in business. There's no point getting our order delivered via the food apps. Called the restaurant to put in our orders. We took the dog for a stroll and went to pick up our food, and to pay. Very nice. We didn't make prior payment. Chef Gary knows us well enough to tell us to come pay upon pick-up.
Sushi and sashimi are one of the toughest items to do to-go. The restaurant packed a big pack of ice along with the sushi platter to keep it chilled. They recommended for the platter to be chilled for another 15 minutes back home before eating it. Well, I most certainly didn't have fridge space, so dinner was eaten almost immediately.
Ahhhh. This definitely tasted a lot better than supermarket sushi. Well, I've bought a few boxes of that here and there for lunch because it's just convenient. Tonight was worth a bottle of wine to go along with good sushi. I hadn't had much inclination to drink this week. Felt like a glass tonight. Our friends also sent us loads of wine till I dunno where to keep them. When I have no wine fridge, the wine bottles are just stacked up in the music room. An easy bottle of Oraison 2014 from Rhone Chateauneuf-du-Pape (gifted by D) accompanied the sushi dinner.
