HIIT Classes are Back!

I'm so pleased to have HIIT and krav maga classes back on track. I'm more motivated to sweat it out at the gym instead of doing burpees at home. Although the gym was open for 'non-strenuous' classes, I decided that it wasn't worth my time. I could do those at home and didn't need any sort of motivation.

The government should never underestimate how important gyms and fitness studios are to our mental well-being. Don't tell me nothing beats exercising outdoors and taking walks in our lovely parks. IT'S NOT THE SAME. AND IT'S NOT ENOUGH. It's just better than nothing when we're in a lockdown. And our parks are okay, not that lovely when it's all sanitary and man-made.

That's not to say I didn't do shit for a month. I clocked in a few runs, continued with the daily planks and press-ups, upped my classes at pilates and gyro (since those private classes could still go on with masks). My abs are still existent. Whewww. The man gave up with daily HIIT, and stuck to doing 100 press-ups a day + stretches. Okaaaay. Our estate's fitness corner didn't install pull-up bars. How dumb. So the man went around looking for bars to do pull-ups, and we often ended up at East Coast Park.

We hit the gym for a late afternoon class. FIRST HIIT CLASS IN A MONTH. Then we took the dog to zip out to get a freshly pulled cold pint of beer on tap and an early dinner. Ahhhhhh, JOY. It has been a while since we had beer that didn't come out of a can or a bottle. Dog was happy to chill out and watch the world go by. A hot shower, and I was fast asleep by 10.45pm.

That was my first class back at the gym. It felt wonderful. Laughed when I saw pull-ups on the board. Okaaaay. The coaches are determined to kill all of us. I wasn't in a terrible shape. Alternated between slow jump pulls and good pull-ups. Yayyyy. Surprisingly my lats and traps felt fine the day after. Importantly, the vertigo didn't return. Exercise is definitely good for keeping vertigo at bay.
