C laughed so loud each time we told him we would be getting fishball noodles to go at Tiong Bahru Estate. He was like, "For goodness sake, get something better! Go to Song Heng at Telok Blangah Crescent! You'll never want to buy from this Tiong Bahru stall again."
So one morning, we did. At 11am, I was greeted with a 10-person queue at Song Heng Fishball Noodles (松興魚丸粿條面). The queue moved fast. Luckily for me, I remembered the different types of noodles. Hahaha. Got one portion of mee kia, kway teow (my favorite) with vinegar and chilli, and a portion of fishballs in soup. If you like mee pok, apparently that's tasty.
It was our turn to laugh an hour later when C texted to say that he was in the queue for the same noodles. Hahahah. It was peak lunch time when C went, so that was a longer queue, but it still moved fast enough. After telling at us about it, he also had a craving for it. So he went off to get it too. Cool. We just wanted to support the elderly couple and their food. We're still opting to pick up food from food centers instead of getting it delivered via food apps.
Wow, the items were delicious! The chilli and vinegar were well-balanced. No meat in these versions. I loved it too. I very much prefer fishball noodles over bak chor mee. The vinegar in fishball noodles ain't as heavy. Very little MSG used, and I didn't get that dry throat syndrome after. To be fair, I didn't drink the soup. The man did. He totally enjoyed the noodles and liked the soup too.
